Picts Hill Studios is perfectly positioned near Turvey, offering exceptional ceramic workshops for all skill levels. Our studio location provides easy access from Bedford (15 minutes), Milton Keynes (20 minutes), Olney, Newport Pagnell, and surrounding Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire villages.

Picts Hill Studios offer workshops for all occasions.  Whether it be a Birthday celebration, Valentine's Day, Mother's day or your Hen Party, we can arrange a workshop to suit.  Come and explore the joy of ceramics with us as we share our wide ranging professional skills, helping you to switch off and unwide from the stresses of work or spend quality time with friends and family. We are fully qualified and insured teachers, working in a specifically designed studio space.  Sessions range from '1 to 1' throwing lessons on the potter's wheel to hand building sessions in groups of up to 8 people.   We also provide alternative firing workshops with Raku and Smoke Firing techniques.  All materials and firings are included in the price and can range from 2 hour sessions to all day workshops. Workshops priced competitively, with a guide starting price of £20 per hour for 1 to 1 sessions on the potter's wheel. 

We also provide workshops specifically for children Year 7 and upwards.  Schools have sadly not valued the importance of practical art based subjects in recent years and ceramics is especially overlooked.  The opportunity for cross-curricular learning , especially with the science subjects cannot be underestimated.   We can provide workshops in schools and also for home-schooled children. These workshops can be especially designed for appropriate age groups and linked to other subjects for enhanced learning opportunities.  Picts Hill Studios resident artists are PGCE qualified in Secondary Art and Design with full Enhanced DBS certificates, Full Public Liability Insurance and St John Ambulance First Aid at Work Certificate. Price Guide:

Raku/Smoke Firing workshop - 10am to 4pm - £80 each (Maximum 8 participants)

In-School workshop - 2 hours - £15 per pupil (minimum 15 students)

Evening group session - 3 hours - £30 each (Maximum 8 participants) 

1 to1 wheel throwing sessions - 2 hours - £40
